Cubs Expeditions Limited

7 Day Best Tanzania Budget Safari

This is a very special tour that concentrates in the Serengeti, to follow the great migration. You will spend at least 5 nights in the park, usually two in the Central Area (largest concentration of big cats) and two where the migration is according to the time of the year. We have designed this particular tour so that you finish the safari in the most remote location in the Serengeti, and then fly from there to your next destination. But we can redesign it to return to Arusha by land and will experience Materuni activities and Coffee activities

Arrival (See Getting There for more details)
  • You’ll be collected from the airport.
  • Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park

You’ll be picked up from your hotel at 8 am and start a beautiful journey across the Great Rift Valley for a game drive. Although small in dimension (205 sq miles), the park has breathtaking scenery and is well famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs and mahogany trees, as well as to a growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. Permanent residents of this park also include giraffes, elephants, impalas and a huge amount of buffaloes. The lake is also home to a large number of hippos. The game drives along the lake provide stunning photo opportunities of giraffes and buffaloes in the foreground and the lake in the background. Some extra tours are possible, including a bike tour or a boat excursion. In the afternoon, you’ll return to the camp for dinner.

Day 3: Lake Manyara to Serengeti

After breakfast we head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa  the Serengeti National Park  with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central Park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the Park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight at campsite .

Day 4: Full Game Drive in Serengeti

Today will be the “Serengeti game viewing day”. After breakfast this morning, enjoy an amazing game drive. The great diversity of Serengeti wildlife is evident here—look for buffalo, hippopotamus, elephant, giraffe, antelope, Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelle, and lions. If you are there during the spectacular wildebeest migration, you will be more than astonished. In the late afternoon, we’ll venture out in another game drive.
Everywhere there are animals, monkeys and, yes, birds…but look closely and you will be thrilled to see the huge jungle cats—lion, leopard and cheetah—watching the world go by. And go by it does. Rhino, gazelle, antelope and massive elephants by the hundreds. Animals in the trees, flying, camouflaged in the bush, in rivers and in streams. This is the adventure of a lifetime!

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro crater

After breakfast in the morning, have a game drive in Serengeti National Park and see the beauty of this great park with a picnic lunch. In the afternoon after lunch, have a game drive en-route to Ngorongoro Crater for dinner and overnight stay at Simba Campsite

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Tarangire National Park

After early breakfast at around 5:50 am, descend down crater at 6:00 am for 6-7 hours game drive with a picnic lunch. We venture onto the crater floor for an up-close view of the residents of this World Heritage Site. Enjoy a picnic lunch here. The Ngorongoro Crater provides great game-viewing all year-round. The wildlife here makes up a permanent population because grazing and water supplies are plentiful throughout the seasons. In the afternoon, drive back to Sunbright Campsite for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 7: Tarangire national Park to Arusha

You’ll be picked up from your Sunbright Campsite at 7:30 am. You’ll then have a safari briefing and afterwards, we depart for Tarangire National Park.
